The Epsilon Association of San Diego, Phi Beta Kappa, sponsors an annual Book Award program for students enrolled in San Diego area public high schools as funding permits. The program honors a student at the junior level who clearly exemplifies the principles of the Society: outstanding scholastic performance over a range of subjects plus intellectual curiosity and a love of learning.
Awards are traditionally a hardcover book from the Library of America series or other suitable book selected by the committee.
High School Book Award recipients are chosen by their schools who shows outstanding academic performance over a range of subjects, a love for learning, and insatiable curiosity. Each individual school may use a multitude of ways to select the recipient.
The Committee for Phi Beta Kappa High School Book Awards has most recently been chaired by Kenneth Martin.
